Book review : The Zahir by Paulo Coelho

This is a Psychological novel.

A book which affects your perspective towards life.

It’s about an author who learns the power of destiny, love and had to understand them through his journey of searching his wife “Esther” who disappeared without any trace, which left him to be bound to re-evaluate himself, his life and his marriage. The protagonist learnt some of his lessons from the person who last saw his wife called Mikhail who also inspired him.

The Zahir basically talks about the most important aspects of life which are love, betrayal, freedom, ignorance, forgiveness and most importantly Life.

It’s very difficult to choose specific quote on this book but I tried to atleast highlight a few.

1. Sometimes it makes you think about your own life and the people around you, your worth and theirs. What’s important in life and what needs to go.

“It is very important to let certain things go, to release them, to cut loose. People need to understand that no one is playing with marked cards. Sometimes we win sometimes we lose

2. Some people are very ignorant whereas others are very vigilant.

. “All you have to do is pay attention: lessons always arrive when you ready and if you can read the signs you will learn everything you need to know in order to take the next step

We can also talk about love on the same issue.

“What the eye doesn’t see the heart doesn’t grief over”

3. It makes you become curious about life and revisit your own past

Esther asked why people are sad?

“That’s simple” says the old man” They are the prisoners of their personal history. Everyone believes that the main aim in life is to follow a plan. They never ask if that plan is theirs or it was created for another person. They accumulate experiences, memories, things and other people’s ideas, and it is more than they can possibly cope with. And that is why they forget their dreams.”

This is very important it’s one of the issues we currently facing and people still feel the need to do that hence we say it’s a good thing to be inspired but do you.

4. Another thing in which was of interest to me was the issue of freedom. Let me just quote atleast two sentences

“I fought for the courage to leave my job on the newspaper and launch myself into the adventure of writing a book, knowing full well that no one in my country could make a living as a writer. I gave up after a year. after writing a thousands pages- pages of such genius that even I couldn’t understand them.”

It’s always up to you to make a decision not because the majority says or do it like this. Following your heart. Know your destination, despite all the barriers that can hinder you from getting to the to top. It’s a journey after all.

This book is for people :

Who questions themselves about things happening to them, their lives and their marriages.

Who are still not aware that every relationship has that thin line which is between only two things “attention” and ” space”.

Thank you for taking your time to read my review🙏 please share your highlight on this book or the review itself.
